Pick the day. Enjoy it – to the hilt. The day as it comes. People as they come… The past, I think, has helped me appreciate the present – and I don’t want to spoil any of it by fretting about the future. – Audrey Hepburn
So, basically I grew up in Southern California, where it rains ash every summer and grade school teachers theorize about the state breaking off into the ocean. I studied Creative Writing at UC Riverside & at The New School. I have a black (with some white, which my daughter and I like to dye a variety of colours) Labrador retriever named Trotsky. He loves to swim & very slowly and lovingly lick his own asshole while looking you in the eyes.
I moved to Washington in March of 2009 – and returned to California (an hour inland from Los Angeles, to the city I grew up in) in June 2010. I then moved to Portland, Oregon, and lived there for a little over a year, then spent three months in Missoula, Montana. Last February I headed back to the beautiful and wet Seattle region, but that was short-lived, and I’m currently residing in Missoula, MT. I did also live in Tacoma for a short while like ten years ago. I have also lived in Browning, Montana for a short while, that was when I just turned eighteen and some friends drug me along. Have I mentioned that I love the Northwest? Because I do.
None of this is particularity important, except as reference for later. My favorite books are: ‘Franny and Zooey’ by JD Salinger, ‘House of Leaves’ by Mark Danielewski, ‘Nausea’ by Sartre, ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ by Douglas Adams, ‘Horns’ by Joe Hill, and a new favorite is ‘John Dies at the End’ coupled with ‘This Book is Full of Spiders’ by David Wong.
My favorite short story is ‘The Garden of Forking Paths’ by Borges.
Comics I’m currently reading: ‘Locke & Key’.
I’m always reading something & loving more and more books. Feel free to suggest something to me. I read a lot of poetry, some of my favorite poets are: Janine Joseph, Jack Gilbert, Sharon Olds, Charles Bukowski, and Kim Addonizio.
Favorite directors: Edgar Wright and David Cronenberg.
Oh, I also love red licorice, green olives, pocky and beer. I watch an impossible amount of movies.
I was married once and that didn’t work out.
I write literary fiction with hints of magic. Sometimes there are hints of horror. If I’m lucky things are funny too. Basically, I write what I like. You may not like what I like. But, I hope you do. I also like new friends:
I’m in the process of super-editing a novel I wrote a couple years back called The Dark Hours. However, when I finish editing, I’m renaming that bitch.
And I’m working on a graphic novel. I need an artist to help with it.
In the upcoming months I will be putting out a couple of short stories for purchase on Smashwords if you want to check out some of my work. And if you want to be updated as these become available, just send me an email letting me know.
Also, I was a kid once:
